Water Restrictions & Conservation

There are several water providers serving Lakeway residents and businesses. The two serving a majority of our population, Lakeway Municipal Utility District (LMUD) and Travis County Water Control & Improvement District No. 17 (WCID#17) are both in Stage 1 restrictions for their customers at this time. That means their customers are under a twice-per-week automatic watering and irrigation schedule. Each have specific guidelines for those restrictions, so it's important to continue to follow the advice of your specific water provider. You can click on those links above or for a complete list, visit the link at the bottom of this article.

While some recent rains have lowered some stage levels, it's important to continue to conserve water where you can. According to LMUD, water leaks, unattended hoses and inefficient irrigation systems are big causes of unnecessary water loss and therefore could be enforceable by penalty by the water provider as water waste or negligence. Please keep an eye on your water usage as lake levels remain low.

While watering restrictions are in place, it's important to note that some commercial properties like golf courses and some median irrigation systems use reclaimed water, which is water that has been, in a sense recycled: cleaned and sanitized from wastewater treatment facilities.
