City of Las Vegas Offers Program Allowing Parking Tickets To Be Paid With A Toy Donation For A Limited Time

Qualifying Parking Tickets Issued Oct. 1-Nov. 15, 2024 Are Eligible

The city of Las Vegas offers a program allowing qualifying parking tickets issued between Oct. 1 and Nov. 15, 2024, to be paid with donations of toys. Any donations taken in by the city through the program will be donated to Chicanos Por La Causa, a nonprofit corporation that assists homeless families to obtain permanent housing.

Those who receive a non-public-safety parking infraction in the city of Las Vegas Oct. 1-Nov. 15, 2024, may satisfy their tickets by bringing new, unwrapped toys/games of equal or greater value to their fine to the Parking Services Offices at 350 S. City Parkway within 30 days of their citation date. An accompanying receipt of purchase for the donation is required. In addition, those with tickets may purchase toys online and have them delivered to the Parking Services Office with their citation number in the notes section of the delivery.

This year, the holiday program is geared towards family engagement. Family-friendly, multi-player games are preferred, so that kids of all ages will be included in the donation assortment.

Some of the items being accepted include:

  • Family-friendly games for all ages (Candyland, Monopoly, Connect 4, Jenga, UNO, Operation, Sorry, etc.)
  • Gift cards
  • Age-appropriate toys (children in the program range from 6 months to 18 years old)
  • Stocking stuffers.

Qualifying citations include overtime meter, restricted time zone, abandoned vehicle, commercial vehicle/tour buses only, bus or taxi zone, loading/unloading zone, registration not displayed, parked after park hours, taking two spaces, and vehicle parked more than 72 hours. Other citations may also be eligible; call 702.229.4700 for more information.

In July 2016, the City Council adopted an ordinance authorizing the establishment of this occasional program allowing for charitable donations in lieu of payment for non-public safety violation parking fines as amended Feb. 1, 2023, allowing the program to be administratively approved by the city manager.
