Congressman Meuser Reacts to Netanyahu’s Address to Congress

Washington D.C.- Today, Congressman Dan Meuser (PA-09) released the below statement following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's address to Congress.

Congressman Dan Meuser said, "The United States remains committed to our greatest ally in the Middle East, Israel. Today, Prime Minister Netanyahu passionately underscored the importance of the relationship between our two nations. Together, united in a common cause for peace and prosperity, there is no enemy we cannot defeat. As the Prime Minister said, 'Our enemies are your enemies, our fight is your fight, our victory will be your victory.' As Israel continues to face threats from its neighbors, terror groups, and rogue states, the world must know the United States is fully committed to Israel's defense. And to those protestors who stand with Hamas, I echo Prime Minister Netanyahu's description of them as Iran's 'useful idiots'."

"Hamas' attack on Israel last year was an unprovoked act of terror, killing more than 1,200 innocent Israelis and 39 Americans. The atrocities committed during the siege, including the slaughter of men, women, and children in their own homes, were crimes against humanity. In the wake of the attack, Israel has an ultimate right to defend itself and its people, which includes fully eliminating Hamas to ensure future generations of Israelis are safe from a future attack. It is also imperative that the Israeli Defense Forces be allowed to fully utilize all available tools to secure the release of hostages still being held by Hamas."

Meuser continued, "Vice-President Kamala Harris' purposeful absence from today's joint session with Prime Minister Netanyahu was a serious affront to Israel. It told our allies around the globe that we are not dependable and our adversaries that we are not united. Her boycott of the address was a politically motivated decision intended to rally support from the radical left. She chose to put the needs of her campaign ahead of what's in the best interest of America and our allies."
