A Final Word On Hurricane Helene

HELENE DEFIES FORECASTERS STAYS EAST OF ALPHARETTA
UPDATE: 7:30 AM, Friday, 9/27/2024

We are very happy to say that this will be our final update on Hurricane Helene, and we would like to thank the storm for defying all of the forecasts and staying on a track that was well east of Alpharetta. As a result, the tropical storm force winds that had been predicted never materialized here.

Following the old adage, our City of Alpharetta team prepared for the worst while we hoped for the best. It is great when your hopes are realized!

Unfortunately, many communities were not as lucky. Helene did major damage to Florida's "Big Bend" and to some South Georgia communities. Please keep those impacted in your thoughts and consider finding ways that you can help them as they recover and try to put their homes and towns back to normal.

Thank you to all of our wonderful citizens for taking Helene seriously, preparing, and being patient as we all came together to ready Alpharetta to meet the storm's challenge. Once again, you demonstrated why we are so proud to serve this community and all of you.
