Substantial repairs to the road network across the area got underway in April 2024 thanks to an additional £4 million capital investment to be spent on road resurfacing and other road upgrades over a 12-month period.

Now six months into the multi-million roads resurfacing programme 50 carriageway schemes out of the 92 planned are complete and include:

  • Lathallan Interchange
  • Main Street, Polmont
  • Bothkenner Road, Carronshore
  • Powdrake & Inchyra Roundabouts, Grangemouth
  • Westburn Avenue, Falkirk
  • Upper Candie, near Standburn

This investment has been directed towards a wide range of projects, including essential resurfacing works and targeted improvements in areas most in need of permanent repair. The additional funds are aimed at accelerating efforts to address road condition issues and improve the roads network overall.

This week work got underway on North Main St, Carronshore costing around £70k which will result in 3000sqm of resurfacing works to the carriageway.

Councillor Paul Garner, Falkirk Councils' Depute Leader said: "The additional funding has allowed us to significantly ramp up our roads capital programme to make real improvements across our road network, improving road safety and travel conditions for both residents and visitors to the area.

"These upgrades are a critical part of our ongoing efforts to build a more resilient, accessible, and efficient transportation network for the area."

More projects are scheduled over the coming months as the programme of works continues into the new year with each upgrade contributing to a safer and more efficient road network and include B825 at Bowhouse Roundabout, Garngrew Road, Haggs, A9 Torwood to Glenbervie, Bankside, Falkirk, and A803 Champany.
