MILWAUKEE - Marquette University's Civic Dialogues program will host "Conversations About the 2024 Election: A Dialogue Dinner," Monday, Nov. 18, from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Alumni Memorial Union, 1442 W. Wisconsin Ave.
Participants will be able to share their thoughts regarding the election, as well as engage in active listening of others' perspectives.
The Civic Dialogues Dinner series offers an opportunity for Marquette students to enjoy a dinner while discussing the complex causes of public problems, what we should do to address them and how we might promote the common good. Students do not need any previous experience or expertise - just a desire to listen and learn from one another as we engage the world with purpose.
Media interested in covering the event must RSVP in advance to Kevin Conway at [email protected]. B-roll and interview opportunities will be available, but no audio recording will be allowed during table discussions.
The Civic Dialogues program was created to teach students how to practice civil conversation and honest dialogue in a society that is increasingly at odds. While events over the past few years have sparked uncomfortable or even heated discussions for many with friends, family and loved ones, this program is helping the Marquette community to foster skills for communicating effectively and respectfully with one another with lessons and strategies to help engage in deliberative and honest exchanges of ideas around important topics.
