Minister Zulu to handover solar energy system and mobile library at Siviwe School of Skills in Wynberg and Gugulethu, Cape Town

Load sheding remains one of the country's challenges, which brings with, negative socio-economic effects on the lives of many South Africans, including, vulnerable older persons, women, children, and youth who depend on electricity to access work opportunities and other basic services.

To this end, the Minister of Social Development, Ms Lindiwe Zulu, as part of addressing this challenge and the risks associated with electrical costs, will handover a 13,650 kw solar power system to the Beit-ul-Aman Old Age Home, in Wynberg, in collaboration with Turkish H.E. Madam Ambassador Ayşegül KANDAŞ.

On the same day, the Minister will be accompanied by the Ambassador, to handover a mobile library to Siviwe School of Skills, in Gugulethu, which has 200 books and a smart TV system to address educational needs of learners.

The handover is made possible, courtesy of Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), which in its work, has provided women entrepreneurship training program, setting up of science laboratory as well as renovation and refurbishment of the hairdressing and beauty workshops. These, TIKA accomplished in South Africa and other parts of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.
