Man Shot After Altercation in Chinatown International District

Detectives are investigating an early morning shooting in Chinatown International District neighborhood that left man injured.

On Saturday shortly before 4:00 a.m., 911 Dispatch received a report of a shooting in the 500 block of South King Street. Police arrived and found a 45-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the lower hip area.

Seattle Fire Department arrived, and the victim initially declined medical attention but later was transported to Harborview Medical Center with non-life threating injuries.

The investigation revealed that there was a brief altercation between the victim and suspect before the shooting. Shortly after the incident the suspect fled on South Dearborn Street.

SPD Officers with the assistance of King County Sheriff's Office K9 Unit conducted a track but the suspect was not located.

Gun Violence Reduction Unit detectives will be leading the investigation.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are under investigation. No suspect is in custody currently.
