Shenanigans to Perform Tuesday

Shenanigans, Lee University's improvisation comedy group, will perform its final show of the semester on Tuesday, Dec. 3, at 9 p.m., in Lee's Dixon Center.

"The team has been working hard to perfect their talents and learn new games for this final show, including some that feature musical improvisation," said Smith Langstaff, Shenanigans team coach. "We are excited to add music into the mix, as the actors might sing or have their mood changed based on the sound being played. I am so very proud of this team and all their hard work."

The theme for the upcoming show is "The Shenanigan's Christmas Carol." Attendees are encouraged to dress in their best holiday outfits, as a "special visitor" from the North Pole will join in on the festivities.

The Shenanigans' performances this semester have drawn together hundreds of Lee students, faculty, guests, and community members, who have enjoyed skits full of comedy, drama, and intrigue.

This year's team includes Dursun Asik, Luke Dobert, Anah Fickett, Cole Henry, Langstaff, Sarah Lee, Nolan Mann, Isabella Morgan, Jude Smith, David Steinmetz, and Tanner Welch. Shenanigans alumna Laura Hicks will return to host the Tuesday performance and Garret Miller will provide piano accompaniment.

This will be Ficket's last performance before she graduates next month, and the team is encouraging everyone to come out and support her final performance.

"We are so thrilled for the talent Anah has brought to the team and the light she has shown throughout this campus, and we cannot wait to see where she ends up next," said Langstaff.

Shenanigans started in 2007 as Lee's first improv team. Skits are unscripted, featuring a set of various games that encourage the creativity of both actors and audience. A moderator may force team members to change the last spoken word on a whim, incorporate surprise quotes into their dialogue, or just radically change the scene, all in the interest of discovering new possibilities in even the simplest of scenes.

This family-friendly show, open to the public, is expected to last an hour and a half. Tickets are $1 and are available for purchase at the door. Doors will open at 8:30 p.m.
