Another man has been charged following an investigation into a break and enter at a home in Sydney's eastern beaches last month.
On Sunday (13 October 2024), officers attached to Eastern Beaches Police Area Command established Strike Force Gijon and commenced an investigation into an alleged break and enter in Matraville area.
Police were told a 70-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by two unknown males at a home on Jersey Street, Matraville, before they left the scene in a stolen blue Subaru XV.
The 70-year-old man was taken to Prince of Wale Hospital in a stable condition, and has since been released.
The vehicle was later located abandoned in Hebersham area on Tuesday (15 October 2024), where it was seized to be forensically examined.
Following initial inquiries, with the assistance of officers from Mt Druitt Police Area Command, a 16-year-old boy was arrested and charged on Thursday (17 October 2024).
Following further inquiries, about 2pm yesterday (Thursday 21 November 2024), police arrested a 23-year-old man at an address on Hopman Crescent, Shalvey.
He was taken to Mt Druitt Police Station where he was charged with special aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence-wound, steal motor vehicle, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception and drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous.
He was refused bail to appear at Mt Druitt Local Court today (Friday 22 November 2024).
