Storm debris pickup by zone to begin Wednesday

Pinellas County will begin collecting residential storm debris from Hurricane Helene in the unincorporated area of the county on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Storm debris collection will be implemented in zones.

The areas that should be prepared for the first pass of storm debris removal, beginning Oct. 2, are:

  • Crystal Beach
  • Ozona
  • West Palm Harbor
  • Unincorporated Seminole
  • West Lealman

There will be a second pass for each zone at a date to be announced.

Storm debris in bags and/or not separated will NOT be picked up. Storm debris must be loose and separated by type: vegetative material, construction and demolition debris (doors, drywall, mattresses and furniture) and household appliances. Refrigerators must be empty. For more information on the sorting process and a map of zones, visit Pinellas.gov/debris.

Small piles of vegetative debris will not be collected. For residents with manageable vegetative debris such as branches, twigs and leaves, place it in your receptacle or bags and put it out for pick up by your regular trash collection provider.

If you live in a municipality, contact your city or town about the availability of storm debris pickup in their area. If you're not sure if your property is located within unincorporated Pinellas or within a city/municipality, use the interactive My Neighborhood Services tool to find out. For those living on private roads or in gated communities, check with your homeowner's association for storm debris collection or use the County's debris management site at 13600 ICOT Boulevard in Clearwater.

The Pinellas County Solid Waste cannot accept storm-related debris from residents or private haulers. The facility is not an approved site for storm debris disposal.
