Resurfacing began today on Route 5 in Howard County

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo - Construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation began resurfacing Missouri Route 5 in Howard County today, Monday, July 15.

For the duration of the work, one lane of Route 5 will be closed in segments up to 2 miles in length, and flaggers with a pilot car will direct motorists through the work zone. work will take place Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. The work on Route 5 will stretch from Route 87 to U.S. Route 40.

Once Route 5 is complete, crews will resurface Route 240 and Alt 240. Route 240 will be resurfaced from Route 5 to Route 40, and Alt 240 will be resurfaced from Route 240 to Route 40.

The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $7,170,804.76 contract to Capital Paving & Construction, LLC for this work, which is anticipated to be completed by Nov. 1, 2024.

All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
