Hurricane Helene-Debris Removal Information

City of Palmetto

Debris information related to Hurricane Helene

Posted September 30, 2024

The City of Palmetto is working closely with our Debris Contractors to develop guidelines and a timeline for debris removal within the City limits. At this time, we hope to have crews in the area towards the end of the week or early next week(i.e., week of October 7, 2024) to begin picking up hurricane related debris. Please refer to the guidelines listed below for hurricane related debris.

Please note, our waste hauler (Waste Management) expects normal garbage, recycling and yard waste pick-ups to happen on the regularly scheduled days during the week of September 30, 2024 and going forward. However, they will not be picking up large debris piles as described in the guidelines below. The hurricane related debris will be picked up by storm contracts as described above.

Please refer to www.mymanatee.org for other storm related questions include distribution points for food and water. The closest distibution center for Palmetto residents is Blackstone Park.
