Statement from NHCC in Response to NIFA Budget Resolution

STATEMENT FROM NHCC IN RESPONSE TO NASSAU INTERIM FINANCE AUTHORITY BUDGET RESOLUTION

EAST MEADOW, NY - Nassau Healthcare Corporation released today the following response to NIFA's resolution on the County budget.

"NIFA has been exposed by the current leadership of NHCC for either gross negligence or deliberate malfeasance in their purported oversight of NUMC. They no longer have any credibility as an independent fiscal watchdog due to their repeated failures and consistent efforts to spread misinformation. Nassau residents should know that NIFA is the same organization that recommended slashing NUMC's staff by 90 percent during the height of the pandemic. The Federal law is very clear that Medicaid funding from Counties is capped at 10 percent and the rest must come from the State. NIFA shouldn't be carrying Albany's water in the State's blatant attempt to violate both State and Federal law. Reforms implemented by current leadership, not NIFA, have put the hospital in the best financial position it has been in decades." - Matthew J. Bruderman, Chairman NHCC Board of Directors
