Swimming Pools Altering Hours of Operation

Fredericksburg, Texas -After a successful summer season, the City of Fredericksburg's Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park Pool and Coach Tony Knopp Town Pool will soon change operating hours due to a lack of lifeguard availability.

In total, Fredericksburg's swimming pools have welcomed over 15,000 visitors during the 2024 summer season through Thursday, July 25. The City is able to operate these facilities thanks to a part-time staff of 24 lifeguards and six cashiers.

The Park Pool, located inside Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park at 432 Lady Bird Dr., will be closed for the season after Sunday, Aug. 11. The park pool's hours are currently Wednesday-Monday 1-6:30 p.m. The Park Pool will continue to host adult fitness and lap swim availability Monday-Friday from 7:30-11:30 a.m. until Friday, Aug. 2.

Meanwhile, the days of operation will move to Saturday and Sunday only at Town Pool, after Sunday, Aug. 11. The facility is located at 105 W. Travis St. and is currently open Tuesday-Sunday, 1-6:30 p.m.

The town's Splash Pad located along West Schubert Street, adjacent to the Town Pool, will continue to be open six days a week, Tuesday-Sunday. The Splash Pad's hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. The Splash Pad's final day for the season will be Sunday, Sept. 29. Entry to the Splash Pad is free, while guests have access to the restrooms at Town Pool during the hours of operation.
