NSU Inferno Pitch: The Hottest Idea Wins

NATCHITOCHES - Northwestern State University's School of Business seeks entries for the 2024 Inferno Pitch, a business plan competition that offers NSU students mentoring and skill building and a chance to win big money for big ideas.

Qualifying participant must submit an application and participate in workshops. The top 5 finalists are selected to make their final business pitches to a panel of judges comprised of local business and educational leaders. The winning team will receive $3,000. Teams placing second and third will receive $1,000 and $500. Individual competitor and/or at least one team member must be from the School of Business.

Submit an application by Sept. 11 with your business idea. The individual or at least one team member must be from the School of Business. If you team needs assistance with locating a business student, contact Dr. Weiwen Liao at [email protected].

Workshops will be from 10 a.m.-noon and 3-5 p.m. Sept. 18. Attend a workshop and receive professional coaching from the Entrepreneurial Accelerator Program and local business professionals serving as competition mentors. Participants will gain critical business skills like networking, writing a business plan and pitching and presenting. Rinaldeliverabvles are due by noon Oct. 18.

The Final Pitch will be at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 13. Participants will submit their final documents and the Top 5 teams are invited to pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges. Each finalist will be allowed 10 minutes to present, followed by a 5-minute question and answer session.

Winners of the Inferno Pitch are eligible to compete in the Entrepreneurial Pelican Cu, a statewide business plan competition. Eligible teams could win $50,000, $25,000 or $10,000 for first, second and third place. The faculty advisor for each team can win $3,000.

The winner of a special live pitch competition could win a separate prize of $2,000.
