NJ PBS’s “Chat Box with David Cruz” Partners with League of Municipalities to Host On-Site Discussion with 2025 NJ Gubernatorial Candidates

November 21, 2024 - Atlantic City, NJ - NJ PBS, New Jersey's public media network, and the New Jersey League of Municipalities are partnering to present a unique forum for the declared candidates for New Jersey's 2025 Gubernatorial election that will air and stream on an NJ PBS series. To be recorded on-location in Atlantic City as part of the League's 109th Annual Conference, NJ Spotlight News Sr. Political Correspondent David Cruz will moderate discussions with declared major 2025 gubernatorial candidates for an upcoming episode of Chat Box with David Cruz, the NJ PBS public affairs series. It will stream Thursday, November 21 at 6pm on the NJ Spotlight News YouTube channel and broadcast Saturday, November 24 at 6pm and Sunday, November 25 at 10am on NJ PBS (check local listings).

"NJ PBS is dedicated to amplifying discussion about the issues affecting New Jersey," said NJ PBS Vice President and General Manager Joe Lee. "We are proud to work with the League of Municipalities on this event and afford constituents the opportunity to hear from those looking to lead the state."

"We thank NJ PBS and are excited about this unique and important event as part of the League's conference," said League President William Chegwidden, Mayor of Wharton Borough. "Our audience are mayors and other local elected officials who, like governors, are directly accountable to their constituents. It will be a benefit to these officials and to hear from the candidates for governor as we turn the page on the 2024 election and look ahead to 2025."

To date, the following declared major 2025 gubernatorial candidates are expected to participate: Democrats Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, Jersey City Mayor Steve Fulop, former State Senate President Steve Sweeney, NJEA President and former Montclair Mayor Sean Spiller; and Republicans Senator Jon Bramnick and former Senator Edward Durr (subject to change). Those representing each side of the aisle will be moderated separately and discussion is expected to include topics such as the national political landscape, affordability, immigration, education, the environment, NJ Transit and more.
