A state of emergency has been declared in the area around Grindavík, the Blue Lagoon and Svartsengi powerplant.

A volcanic eruption has started north of Grindavík on Reykjanes peninsula and a state of emergency has been declared.

Do not enter the area and do not fly drones in the area as they can obstruct civil protection and monitoring operations.
