Bismarck Fire Department Responds to Apartment Fire

Bismarck, ND - The Bismarck Fire Department extinguished a structure fire at an apartment building in central Bismarck on Thursday evening.

At approximately 5:15 PM on October 3rd, 2024, the Bismarck Fire Department received a call for a structure fire at an apartment building on the 200 block of N 12th Street. Bismarck Fire crews were dispatched to the scene.

Firefighters arrived on the scene at 5:17 PM to find heavy smoke and flame involving an exterior wall on the west side of the building. As fire crews worked to extinguish the fire from the outside. Fire crews who entered the building found that the fire had spread from the exterior wall into the attic space. Limited ceiling sections were opened to access the attic and extinguish the fire in the space. The entire two-story apartment building was searched and confirmed to be empty. When the fire was extinguished, fire crews overhauled the scene to find and put out any smoldering materials.

There were no injuries reported to occupants or firefighters.

Flame spread and fire damage were contained to an exterior wall and the adjacent attic spaces and there was smoke damage throughout the building. The building was under renovation and was unoccupied at the time of the fire. The cause of this fire is under investigation.
