Route 982 New Derry Road Bridge Replacement Upcoming in Westmoreland County

Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that a portion of Route 982 (New Derry Road) is scheduled to close on Monday, August 5, between Route 1029 (Garrigan Hill Road) and Route 1027 (Laughlin Farm Road) in Derry Township, Westmoreland County.

Crews from Beaver Excavating Company will be replacing the bridge that carries Route 982 over a tributary of Stony Run with a box culvert. Work includes full depth reconstruction, mill and overlay, guiderail, signing, and pavement marking upgrades - an infrastructure investment of $930K.

A 21-mile posted detour will be in place using:
· Route 982 (New Derry Road).
· Route 22 (William Penn Highway).
· Route 981 (Old Derry Road).
· Route 1020 (Industrial Boulevard).
· Route 982 (Peanut Road, New Derry Road).

The closure is anticipated until late August. All work depends on weather and operations.
