Homicide Investigation Update

On August 8, 2024, Detectives from the Crimes Against Persons Unit with Pueblo Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for David Frank Martinez for Murder in the 1st Degree. This was in response to a reported shooting which took place on June 28, 2024. The Real Time Crime Center (RTCC) provided crucial leads to the investigators, eventually leading to the identification of David Frank Martinez as a suspect in the case. Martinez was apprehended without incident and subsequently booked into the Pueblo County Detention Center.

On June 28, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Pueblo Police Department patrol officers responded to a report of a shooting at Veteran's Tavern located at 315 E Northern Ave. Upon their arrival, they discovered two individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds, one of them in critical condition.

Both individuals were promptly transported to the hospital. Regrettably, one individual succumbed to her injuries shortly after arrival, marking the 14th homicide of 2024.

Crimes Against Persons Detectives and Crime Scene Detectives units responded to the scene and began their investigation. In addition to the Detectives units work the RTCC and technicians of the RTCC provided necessary information to the investigators, which led to proper identification of Martinez.
