Understanding Our "Why"

Transforming a business is a monumental undertaking, and one that requires a focused commitment by all members of the organization. At Avanos, we are at the halfway mark of our three-year transformation, an effort we launched to create long-term value for all our stakeholders.

We frequently talk about the financial targets guiding our transformation efforts. After all, achieving milestones and tracking our progress is an important part of continuous improvement and the overall transformation process itself.

But as important as numbers and targets are to achieving our goals, we must not lose sight of the real reason we first embarked on this journey as a new company called Avanos Medical six years ago. Today, just as it was in 2018, it is the people who rely on our products that keep us striving to do better and to be better.

In the business world, this is often described as a company's "why" - its purpose, its cause and the very reason it exists. We believe so deeply in our "why" that it serves as our company Vision. Getting patients back to the things that matter isn't just another corporate phrase - it is the core of our business and the foundation from which everything grows.

What an incredible responsibility it is to know that people around the world, young and old, depend on Avanos to provide safe, reliable and high-quality products to positively impact their lives. And what a privilege it is to be entrusted to fulfill those needs!

As we move into the second half of our transformation, I am excited to be part of the progress that will allow us to better serve those who rely on us. Because while numbers may change, our "why" will always remain a constant.
