Philadelphia, PA - ThePennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge repair will occur at night next week on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) under a $100.6 million project to rehabilitate the Wayne Junction Viaduct over the SEPTA tracks and Nicetown neighborhood in Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:

  • Wednesday, September 4, through Friday, September 6, from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, periodic single and double lane closures are planned on southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) between Henry Avenue and I-76 for bridge construction. The ramp from southbound U.S. 1 to westbound I-76 will also close at this time. Motorists will detour east on I-76, exit at Montgomery Avenue, then take the ramp to westbound I-76.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through or near the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
