Public Meeting: August 8, 2024 at 12:00 PM regarding Sheridan South Downtown Project

The City of Sheridan, Wyoming, will conduct a public meeting at 12:00 PM, local time, on August 8, 2024, in the City Council Chambers on the 3rd floor of City Hall. The purpose of the meeting is to allow citizens to review and comment on the following project: Sheridan South Downtown Project. The project area is located south of downtown and consists of Whitney Street from Thurmond Street to Main Street, Perkins Street from Tschirgi Street to Main Street, Kilbourne Street from Thurmond Street to Main Street, College Avenue from Thurmond Street to Main Street, Tschirgi Street from College Avenue to Whitney Street, Brooks Street from College Avenue to Whitney Street, and South Main Street from College Avenue to Burkitt Street. The utilities and street surfacing in these locations are aging and showing signs of deterioration. As it relates to water, throughout the years there have been numerous breaks and leaks as a result of corrosion to the DIP. Work on this project will include trenching in the existing, previously disturbed right-of-way to replace deteriorating water pipe with new PVC water mains and all appurtenances and replacing the existing sewer vitrified clay pipe with new PVC mains and all appurtenances.

At the meeting, the City of Sheridan will present the preliminary design of the proposed project and will discuss the estimated cost of the improvements and the plan for funding the improvements. A preliminary plan of improvements, cost estimates, and the funding plan can also be reviewed at the City of Sheridan, Engineering Department, 55 Grinnell Plaza, Sheridan, WY. Contact Mr. Nathan Rager, City of Sheridan Sr. Project Engineer, at (307) 675-4236.

Based on current cost estimates, the City of Sheridan plans to borrow $5,050,000 from the Wyoming Drinking Water and Clean Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF & CWSRF) program administered by the Wyoming Office of State Lands and Investments. No increased user fees are anticipated to repay the loans. The loan terms request a 1.25% interest rate if principal forgiveness is not available, for a 30-year loan term.

Written comments are also welcome. Send written comments to Nathan Rager, 55 Grinnell Plaza, Sheridan, Wyoming, 82801 by 12:00 PM on August 8, 2024.
