Rep. Sewell Announces $637,195 for a New Emergency 911 Communications Facility in Pickens County

Carrollton, AL- This morning, at a press conference in Carrollton, Alabama, U.S. Rep. Terri Sewell (AL-07) was joined by Pickens County Emergency Management Agency and E-911 Director Lakitha Bell to announce $637,195 that she secured for the construction of a new emergency 911 communications facility in Pickens County.

"We in Alabama are no strangers to severe weather," said Rep. Sewell. "When disaster strikes, it is essential that our communities have the infrastructure needed to respond quickly and efficiently. It can make the difference between life and death. These critical upgrades will help ensure that local officials can continue to keep people safe during natural disasters, fires, medical emergencies, and other life-and-death situations. I fought hard to get this funding included in the 2024 federal budget and I look forward to seeing the impact it will have here in Pickens County."

"On behalf of the Pickens County E-911 Board, we are overjoyed to receive these much-needed federal funds that will go towards erecting a much-needed new 911 communications facility," said Pickens County Emergency Management Agency and E-911 Director Lakitha Bell. The funding announced today will be used to construct a new stormproof emergency 911 communications facility that will serve as a hub for emergency services in Pickens County. It is part of the $13.1 million that Rep. Sewell secured in the Fiscal Year 2024 federal government funding package for local projects in Alabama's 7th Congressional District.
