Seton Hall Esports Kicks Off Fall 2024 Season

Seton Hall Esports has kicked off the Fall 2024 season with a transition to the newly launched Playfly College Esports, an enhanced league that builds on the legacy of the Collegiate Starleague. This new league offers significant benefits, including weekly broadcasts, over $150,000 in scholarship prizes, and an annual LAN event for top teams from both the Fall and Spring seasons. Seton Hall's participation in Playfly College Esports aligns with the BIG EAST's goal of providing premier competitive experiences and development opportunities for its esports athletes.

With the transition, Playfly College Esports has introduced a new membership model, featuring a Varsity Membership tailored for school-supported esports programs like Seton Hall's. To foster growth and enable its student-athletes to compete at the highest level, Seton Hall has elevated Overwatch 2 and Super Smash Brothers Ultimate to varsity status. This elevation provides greater opportunities and allows the teams to showcase their talents on a national stage.

This season, Seton Hall Esports is also excited to join the Garden State Esports Collegiate Circuit (GSECC), a New Jersey-exclusive league offering a unique blend of competition and hands-on learning experiences. The GSECC aims to build a passionate and supportive community, encouraging New Jersey students to stay in-state for their college education. With 317 schools and over 12,000 students participating, it offers a wide-reaching platform to cultivate and engage local talent. As a host school, Seton Hall will welcome high school students for campus tours and esports activities, strengthening the local esports community and offering valuable resume-building opportunities.

Esports Leadership Earn Recognition

Highlighting the success of Seton Hall's esports program, Esports Manager Victor Gomez was named one of the five finalists for the NACE Director of the Year Award for 2024. This prestigious nomination reflects the hard work, dedication, and leadership that Gomez has contributed to the program, driving its growth and competitive achievements.

Antonio "Tone" Riozzi, Seton Hall's Rocket League Coach, continues to build his impressive resume with a victory in the IMT Progressive Bundle Bash 2024 Alumni Event. As a former player turned coach, Riozzi has been instrumental in the ongoing success of the Rocket League team, guiding them to multiple championships. Demonstrating his skill once again, Antonio drafted a winning team and secured the event's victory.
