University Hospitals MacDonald Women’s Hospital at TriPoint Medical Center Opens Level 2 Special Care Nursery Services

CONCORD, Ohio - Last year, UH MacDonald Women's Hospital, an extension of UH Cleveland Medical Center, began operating maternity and newborn services at UH TriPoint Medical Center. Earlier this month, UH announced it has re-established Level 2 special care nursery services as part of this comprehensive family birthing center for families in Lake County, Ashtabula County, and nearby communities.

"We are proud to invest in the maternity and newborn services at UH TriPoint because it means more families can stay close to home for advanced care. For example, when a baby is born prematurely they may need help with breathing, or closer monitoring," says Patti DePompei, President, UH Rainbow Babies & Children's and MacDonald Women's hospitals. "We can now care for mothers and babies who need additional support at UH TriPoint, and should a baby require more intensive care in our Level 4 NICU at UH Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital, they are only 25 minutes away from Cleveland."

At UHMacDonald Women's Hospital on the campus of UH TriPoint Medical Center moms labor, deliver, recover, and spend postpartum in the same private room, so they never have to move. The special care nursery rooms have an incubator, ventilator, and other advanced medical equipment. The rooms are spacious and allow families to interact and stay with the baby overnight in a private, comfortable setting. There is an emphasis on mother-baby bonding, breastfeeding, and other proven maternity care practices beneficial to mother and baby.
