Sugar Foods Fresh Gourmet Santa Fe style tortilla strips recalled in 15 commissaries due to undeclared wheat

Sugar Foods is voluntarily recalling Fresh Gourmet Santa Fe style tortilla strips, because they may contain wheat, an undeclared allergen, according to an internal recall notice sent Nov. 21.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to wheat, run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) has publicized this recall to all its stores, said Richard Stith, Chief, Public Health Division, DeCA headquarters at Fort Gregg-Adams, Virginia. Whenever a commissary has recalled or withdrawn products in its inventory, they are immediately removed from store shelves.

The recalled product was shipped to select stores in the west area of the United States on Oct. 31.

The following product is affected by this recall:

  • Fresh Gourmet Tortilla Strips Santa Fe Style, 3.5 ounce: UPC Code 7 87359 17504, and a best by date of June 20, 2025.

  • Camp Pendleton MCB, California
  • Hill AFB, Utah
  • Imperial Beach, California
  • Lemoore NAS, California
  • Los Angeles AFB, California
  • Luke AFB, Arizona
  • McClellan AFB, California
  • Miramar MCAS, California
  • Moffett Field, California
  • Nellis AFB, Nevada
  • San Diego NB, California
  • Schofield Barracks, Hawaii
  • Travis AFB, California
  • Yuma MCAS, Arizona

This recall is being made in cooperation with the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

As a precautionary measure, consumers who have purchased the Fresh Gourmet Tortilla Strips Santa Fe style are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
