Abstract

Feature articles highlight OJJDP's commitment to keeping youth out of adult correctional facilities and the San Francisco Family Treatment Court's emphasis on family-centered programming, an approach designed to promote safe family reunification. Additional stories focus on Shimaine Holley, who overcame a childhood filled with trauma to launch an organization devoted to enhancing the well-being of children and families, and programming offered by the Squaxin Island Tribe designed to ground youth in their culture and help them reconnect with their ancestors. Another article focuses on Georgia's use of Title II Formula Grant funding to support juvenile court programs aimed at reducing reoffending by system-involved youth and decreasing the number of out-of-home placements.
