On September 21, 2024, State Police in Troop G partnered with the Amsterdam Police Department to conduct a community gun buyback event funded by the New York State Attorney General's Office.

On September 21, 2024, State Police in Troop G partnered with the Amsterdam Police Department in Amsterdam, NY, for a community gun buyback event. One hundred eighty firearms were voluntarily turned over. State Police will process all the guns collected, and then destroy them.

The program offers community members compensation for firearms they no longer wish to possess and focuses on getting those unwanted firearms safely off the streets.
