Borussia's U17s won 2-0 away to SC Paderborn to record their first victory in Group B of the DFB-Nachwuchsliga and take over pole position in the table with four points.

\"Absolutely deserved, we were clearly the dominant team,\" commented coach Karsten Gorges, before adding: \"If there was something to criticise, then it was our chance conversion.\" For example, it took until the 67th minute for Romeo Ritter to fire BVB into the lead. The goal for 2-0 was scored by Tom Faust, who had played his way into the starting XI with his display in the 2-0 friendly win in Bochum in midweek.

Gorges highlighted the focused defensive display from his team - in particular the performance of centre-backs Romeo Ritter and Jan-Luca Riedl - which cancelled out Paderborn's attacking players. The hosts registered their first shot on Borussia's goal in the 70th minute.

\n

BVB produced an improved attacking performance compared to their opening game, a 1-1 draw with Hannover 96, although the East Westphalians defended compactly and with many players behind the ball for a long time. \"We had several good actions in the opposition box,\" emphasised Gorges. It was often just the finish that was lacking.

The U17s will pay a visit to Preußen Münster this coming Friday (kick-off 19:30 CEST).

\n

BVB: Wehrbein - König (Kolano, 90), Riedl, Ritter, Driedger,  Fahrenhorst - Hoy, (Mize, 59), Zarqelain (Branco, 59) - Faust (Damberg, 90), Najdi (Adje, 59), Albert (Perri, 90)
