Simms Street Set to Reopen for Public Travel on Oct. 11

Jefferson County is excited to announce that Simms Street in northern Jefferson County will reopen for public travel on Oct. 11, 2024. This vital roadway was reconstructed in a new alignment between the intersections of 112th Avenue and CO 128 to enhance street connectivity and facilitate development as part of the Verve Innovation Park project.

The Verve Innovation Park is a collaborative initiative between Jefferson County and Urban Frontier, LLC, aimed at promoting economic development on surplus county property. The newly constructed Simms Street features increased intersection capacity at CO 128, future landscaping, and the addition of sidewalks to ensure a safer and more attractive environment for all users.

The approximately one-year closure was necessary to accommodate significant grading and utility work essential for the project's success.

Additionally, the county is nearing completion of Callender Drive, with a scheduled opening on Oct. 25. This new road will provide crucial access to aviation uses on the south side of the Rocky Mountain Metropolitan Airport.
