Important Information on Garbage, Recycling, Yard and Bulk Waste Collections

The City's Department of Public Works is working with Waste Pro USA to address continued customer complaints about the quality and reliability of its solid waste and recycling collection services. Waste Pro USA is contracted to provide these services to single family homes and duplexes throughout the City. The Department of Public Works oversees the contract with Waste Pro USA and has made the company aware that the current level of service delivery is unacceptable. Weekly meetings are taking place between the Department and Waste Pro USA to discuss missed collections and poor service quality. Currently, staff who are normally assigned to other tasks within Public Works are assisting with missed collections, particularly monthly bulk waste collections.

Waste Pro USA has indicated the service delivery problems are the result of a loss of staff, especially drivers, and challenges the company continues to experience in filling these vacant positions. All efforts are being made by the City to address complaints and enhance quality control particularly for recycling and monthly bulk waste collections. Waste Pro USA has been placed on notice that service levels must significantly improve by the end of September, or the company may face termination of its contract.
