New family-centered garden sprouting at Fort Worth Botanic Garden

A groundbreaking ceremony this weekend will start construction on the Baker Martin Family Garden, the first major expansion of the Fort Worth Botanic Garden in its 20-year Master Plan.
Why it matters: Designed with children and families in mind, the two-acre garden aims to inspire intergenerational enjoyment and connection to nature. Estimated opening date is fall 2026.

Central water feature: A 150-foot-long shallow creek encourages safe interactive play amidst Texas limestone bluffs and native plants.

The garden is developed by Terra Design Studios, known for creating more than 25 successful family gardens across 12 states. The design integrates seamlessly with the Fort Worth Botanic Garden's overarching vision for sustainable and engaging natural spaces.
The Fort Worth Botanic Garden brings together Botanical Research Institute of Texas's fundraising, education and world-class research capabilities with the City of Fort Worth's historically significant grounds and event facilities to create one of the leading public gardens in America.
