Pelosi Statement on One Year Since October 7th Terror Attacks in Israel

San Francisco - Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi issued this statement marking one year since the October 7th terrorist attacks in Israel:

"One year ago, the world watched in horror as Hamas terrorists unleashed a monstrous assault on Israel. During their brutality on October 7th, Hamas slaughtered nearly 1,200 people, including more than forty Americans, wounded thousands more, and kidnapped hundreds of civilian adults and children.

"This horrific attack, orchestrated by a terrorist organization dedicated to the destruction of the State of Israel, was the deadliest massacre of Jews since the Holocaust. Today and every day, we remember the victims of October 7th and the six hostages who have died in the year since, we keep their loved ones in our thoughts and continue praying for the release of all those still being held in captivity by Hamas terrorists.

"America stands unwaveringly with the Israeli people and supports the right of Israel to defend herself. At the same time, our hearts break at the intolerable devastation and suffering of innocent civilians and families in Gaza. As we mark one year of this war, all sides must continue working to achieve a ceasefire and hostage deal on a path to a two-state solution with just and lasting peace for Israelis and Palestinians."
