Jill Johnson Joins Des Moines University Clinic

Jill Johnson, D.O., has joined Des Moines University Clinic - Osteopathic Manual Medicine. A 2007 Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine graduate, she is a family medicine physician specializing in osteopathic manipulative medicine. She also serves as an assistant professor at Des Moines University Medicine and Health Sciences, where she'll inspire the next generation of health care providers by teaching OMM courses.

"Dr. Johnson brings a wealth of experience and a passion for patient-centered care to the DMU Clinic," says Phil Blumberg, executive director of the clinic. "Her work will also ensure students gain practical skills and a deep understanding of osteopathic medicine."

"The ability to help guide students and to take care of patients is a combination of two really important things to me," Johnson says. "For me, this is the perfect job."

Originally from Omaha, Nebraska, Johnson received her undergraduate degree in biology at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa. She completed a family medicine residency at Mercy Medical Center in Mason City, Iowa. Her professional career began at Medical Associates in Clinton, Iowa, where she was the first female and first D.O. in the family practice department and the first to offer OMM treatment. Johnson's innovative OMM treatments have led to significant improvements in her patients' health, with many experiencing faster recoveries and reduced pain levels, substantially impacting their daily lives.

"OMM can get patients out of wheelchairs and get them walking again. It's life-changing," Johnson says. "I hope to inspire more doctors to do manual medicine."
