OCTOBER 2, 2024 -
Throughout October, look for something pink on the Bettendorf Police's Department blue uniforms.

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and every year, the Bettendorf Police Department partners with the Pink Patch Project to help raise awareness and money for local nonprofits doing great work in our community.

The Pink Patch Project is a national public awareness campaign that creates vibrant pink versions of the patches you see on public safety employee uniforms. "The pink patches are intended to stimulate conversation with the community and to encourage public awareness about the importance of early detection and the ongoing fight against breast cancer."

Bettendorf Police are not the only ones who can support this cause. You can also purchase a pink patch for $5, along with other merchandise, with 100% of the proceeds going to the UnityPoint Health Trinity Health Foundation. The money will help provide free mammograms for those who are unable to pay for this potentially life-saving procedure.

To order a patch and to see the other merchandise available for purchase, visit the Bettendorf Police Department (1609 State Street), the Gift Shop at UnityPoint Health Trinity - Bettendorf (4500 Utica Ridge Road), or click here. The online store, created by LogoPro in Bettendorf, is open until Monday, October 14 at 10am. For every item purchased in the online store, donors will receive the patch for free.

"We ask that you join the Bettendorf Police Department in helping us show support and bring awareness during the month of October for those in our community who have been personally affected by breast cancer," said Keith Kimball, Bettendorf Police Chief. "All of us know someone in our lives who has been diagnosed with breast cancer and had the courage to fight it with the support of others."
