Upcoming Closures on Jefferson Avenue for Concept 5 Work

August 9, 2024 - Motorists are advised of a series of upcoming traffic flow changes at the intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Wanetah Drive for work related to the Concept 5 Sewer Improvement Plan.

On Wednesday, August 14, traffic will be shifted to the far east lanes of Jefferson at Wanetah Drive for water main installation. Both directions of traffic will be maintained on Jefferson while this work is completed. All lanes are anticipated to be reopened by the end of the day Wednesday.

Beginning Monday, August 19, Jefferson Avenue will be closed to through traffic at Wanetah for storm and sanitary sewer installation. During this time, through traffic on Jefferson should utilize Wheeler Street, Swede Avenue, and W. Wackerly Street to detour around the closure. Jefferson is anticipated to reopen to traffic by Thursday, August 29.

When complete, the Sylvan Lane pipe upsizing project will provide improvements to the sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water distribution systems and street network for this area within the Sylvan pumping district area, including the upsizing of both storm and sanitary sewer pipes.
