Lincoln University and University of Missouri Create Joint Appointment for State Extension Specialist in Urban Entomology

Lincoln University (LU) and the University of Missouri (MU) have created a new joint position for a state extension specialist in urban entomology. Emily Althoff, Ph.D., has been selected to fill this position. Her role, beginning August 1, aims to strengthen collaborative extension efforts between the two institutions and address critical urban pest management issues.

Althoff brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of entomology. "I am looking forward to Dr. Althoff's entomology expertise and strengthening research and extension collaborations between both institutions," said Douglas LaVergne, Ph.D., vice president of land-grant engagement and dean of the College of Agriculture, Environmental and Human Sciences(CAEHS) at Lincoln University.

The joint appointment of Althoff underscores the commitment of both institutions to advance their research capabilities and extension outreach. This collaboration aims to foster a more integrated approach to urban pest management, leveraging the strengths and resources of both universities.

Althoff expressed her enthusiasm for the new position. Originally from Belleville, Illinois, Althoff recently graduated with a Ph.D. in entomology from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. She also earned a master's degree in plant, insect and microbial sciences from the University of Missouri and a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree in anthropology and integrative biology from the University of Illinois. Her diverse educational background and extensive research experience make her an exceptional addition to the team.
