City Council to Discuss Roosevelt Road Corridor Zoning Ordinance Amendment Sept. 16

During the Sept. 16, 2024 Wheaton City Council meeting, the Council will discuss potential zoning updates along the Roosevelt Road Corridor recommended by the previously adopted Roosevelt Road Corridor Plan. The Council will receive a report with recommendations from the Wheaton Planning & Zoning Board and will hear a brief presentation regarding potential zoning updates. The agenda and supporting documents for the Sept. 16 meeting are now available on the City's website.

This public meeting will begin at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 16 in the Council Chambers of City Hall, 303 W. Wesley St., and individuals can also participate remotely via Zoom. To attend via Zoom: use this link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85635944894?pwd=pabT0YQ4G4zblHQ1Dg5rawfDtRVRTU.1

If the Council supports the Planning & Zoning Board's recommendation, the City Council could direct the City Attorney to prepare an ordinance for their formal consideration at a future City Council meeting.

The overall goal of this project is to guide future development along Roosevelt Road in a way that is responsive to existing conditions and emerging trends while respecting surrounding neighborhoods with development suitable for the area. The Planning & Zoning Board most recently hosted public hearings regarding a proposed amendment to the Zoning Ordinance to incorporate these changes on Aug. 13 and Aug. 27.
