Assault Incident Results in Homicide

On Friday, September 27, 2024, at approximately 5:21 P.M., Pueblo Police Department officers responded to the 1100 block of York Avenue on a report of an Assault.

When officers arrived on scene, they located the reporting party, a 14-year-old juvenile male, providing aid to an unhoused male. Officers learned that the adult male approached the juvenile asking if he wanted to 'smoke drugs'. The juvenile declined and attempted to leave; however, the man continued to try to engage the juvenile in conversation. The juvenile did not respond. The adult male lunged at the juvenile, and the juvenile punched the man one time in the head. The man fell and struck his head on the street. He was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.

INVESTIGATION UPDATE

On Saturday, October 12th, 2024, the man succumbed to his injuries. This death results in the 17th Homicide within the city of Pueblo. The deceased will be identified by the Pueblo County Coroner after appropriate notifications. The Coroner's Office will determine the cause and manner of death.
