Families invited to celebrate a Victorian Christmas at St. George’s Guildhall

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at St George's Guildhall where a range of free festive family-friendly activities will take place on Sunday 8 December 2024.

From 11am until 3pm there will be a range of free Victorian themed activities for families to enjoy:

  • Take part in the Christmas pudding trail. Can you find all the ingredients?
  • Get creative at the craft tables in the Shakespeare Barn.
  • Enjoy flavours of the Victorian period and make a peppermint cream sweet in the Shakespeare Barn.
  • Meet miniature donkeys in the Courtyard.
  • Join Father and Mother Christmas in the Fermoy Gallery, listen to a story and receive a small gift (these 20 minute free sessions require booking on the day and have limited space).
  • At 11:30am and 1:45pm there will be a short version of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol performed by King's Lynn Young Players in the Guildhall Theatre (approximately 40 minutes).

Snacks and drinks will be available to purchase during the event in the Red Barn including mulled wine and hot chocolate.

Cllr Simon Ring, Deputy Leader and Cabinet member for Business and Culture at the borough council, said:

"St George's Guildhall is a magical place to celebrate Christmas.

"This is another free family activity organised by the borough council team at the Guildhall that I'm sure will prove popular with our residents. It also coincides with the Festive Market being organised by Discover King's Lynn taking place just a few steps away in the Tuesday Market Place.

"There will be traditional Victorian games to play, and the chance to make some festive creations. Also the chance to meet Father and Mother Christmas. It's all free and at the Guildhall for a some festive hours only a few weeks before the big day."

The activities are taking place at St George's Guildhall, 29 King St, King's Lynn PE30 1HA. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
