Thomas Bond to Receive 2024 Raymond Mauk Leadership Award

AUSTIN, TX - July 3, 2024- The Insurance Council of Texas(ICT) is honored to announce Thomas J. Bond as the recipient of the 2024 Raymond Mauk Leadership Award.The award will be presented at the 2024 ICT Property & Casualty Insurance Symposiumon July 10, 2024, in Dallas, TX.

Tom Bond has had a long and distinguished career in the Texas insuranceindustryworking extensively in the legislative and regulatory arenas. Tom has been a long-time fixture inand advocate for theTexas propertyand casualty industry beginning with his tenure as one of the three insurancecommissioners on the former State Board of Insurance and continues today with his legal representation of various insurance companies. Many companies and industry leaders have relied upon Tom's advice and counselon often complex questions on Insurance Codes, rule interpretation, or legislative strategyand communications.

Tom has received numerousaccolades from national, state,and local legal groups for his legal skills and contributions, including being named "Lawyer of the Year" in Austin multiple times and included among the "Best Lawyers" in Texas. Among hisnotable achievements, Tom servedas an insurance commissionerfrom 1982-1985, after having worked in the Texas Houseon insurance and other issues.

In his legal practice, he has worked on therehabilitation and liquidation of troubled companies, managed acquisitionsand mergers, and securedregulatory approvals across multiple states. Additionally, Tom acted as outside counsel to the National Association of Insurance Commissioners establishingthe Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission.Currently, Tom is a shareholder in the law firm Greenberg Traurig in their Austin office.

Named in honor of former Texas Fire Commissioner Raymond Mauk, the award celebrates those who have played a pivotal role in advancing the industry.
