UNF celebrates Summer 2024 Commencement

More than 700 students are walking across the stage today during the University of North Florida's Summer 2024 Commencement ceremonies at the UNF Arena.

Graduates range in age from 17 to 53, they come from 12 countries, 31% are the first generation in their families to attend college, many have a 4.0 GPA and 76 are connected to the military. Degrees will be awarded from 93 different combinations of majors in total.

Graduates from the following colleges will move directly into careers with notable companies including:

  • Brooks College of Health:Ascension, Brooks Rehabilitations, Florida Department of Health, Baptist Medical Center, Mayo Clinic and UF Health Shands
  • College of Arts & Sciences:Jacksonville Jaguars, Dolphin Pointe Healthcare Center, City of Jacksonville, Amelia Island Marina and Department of Corrections
  • Coggin College of Business:CSX, Deloitte, Fidelity, Vystar Credit Union, Crowley, EverBank, Florida Blue and the Education Office of the Embassy of Spain
  • College of Education & Human Services:Duval County Public Schools, Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, St. John's County School District, and Woodland Academy
  • College of Computing, Engineering & Construction:Danis Construction, Hensel Phelps Construction, Marion Construction Inc., Wharton Smith, Whiting-Turner Contracting Company and PrimeAE

The Senior Service Award is presented by the UNF Alumni Association to one graduating senior each semester for their outstanding service to the University and community through volunteerism. This year's Summer 2024 graduating class recipient is Ishmail Wise.

Wise is graduating from the College of Arts and Sciences with a Bachelor of Science in Communication with a concentration in public relations and a minor in film. Throughout his time at UNF, Wise consistently demonstrated excellence and a commitment to civic engagement and servant leadership in the Jacksonville community. He served as president of the Kappa Alpha Psi's Kappa League and the Xi Lambda chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. He organized numerous community events, created a documentary about fresh food options in Northwest Jacksonville and dedicated over 70 hours to mentoring youth.

The UNF Class of Summer 2024 will join the Osprey alumni nation's current 112,137-member total. As of spring 2024, UNF has issued 122,488 bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees since first opening in 1972.
