Management professor named fellow with the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology

Dr. Gary Adams, a professor of management in the College of Business Administration, was recognized as a Fellow by the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology, one of that organization's highest honors.

Adams received the fellowship based on his strong research, professional and teaching accomplishments. His research work on family dynamics, work-retirement relationships and diversity, equity and inclusion has appeared in leading journals and been cited more than 10,000 times. He has consulted with major corporations and sponsored research with the Walter Reed Army Institute for Research and the National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. Adams has won an Outstanding Graduate Faculty Award, a Rudoy Endowed Professorship and was named a Brennan Master Teacher.

"I am deeply humbled and grateful to have received this recognition," Adams says. "I am also so very thankful to the mentors who have guided me as well as my colleagues and students who challenge and inspire me every day. This kind of award leaves me in awe of all the wonderful work we all do across the academy to advance the science and practice of our chosen fields."

SIOP is the premier professional association for the science and practice of industrial and organizational psychology. Adams and his peers in the 2024 fellowship class were recognized at SIOP's annual conference in Chicago. To become a fellow, a member must be active for 10 years or more, be nominated by a fellow member, endorsed by at least three SIOP fellows and have meaningful, sustained impact in their field.
