Violent Crime Retail Theft – Weekend Synopsis

Over the past weekend (August 10 to 11, 2024), as part of the extended provincially funded Violent Crime Retail Theft (VCRT) suppression initiative, assigned members of the Property Crime Unit and Community Support Units engaged in several offender apprehensions regarding retail theft.

C24-185402

  • On August 10, a 35-year-old female was arrested for Theft Under $5,000 at a grocer on Bison Drive. Released on Undertaking.
  • Special Duty officers and members of VCRT Property Crime were on scene.

  • On August 10, a 27-year-old male was arrested for Theft Under $5,000 at a grocer in the 600 block of Sargent. Released on Undertaking.
  • Members of VCRT Property Crime.

  • On August 10, a 32-year-old female was arrested for Theft under $5,000 at a grocer on Bison Drive. Released on Undertaking.
  • Members of VCRT Property Crime.

  • On August 10, a 47-year-old male was arrested for Theft under $5,000 at a grocer in the 2000 block of McPhillips Street. Released on Undertaking.
  • Members of VCRT Property Crime.
  • Community Support Officers from the East District located the suspect nearby and took her into custody. She provided a false identity until later in the investigation.

  • On August 10, an 18-year-old male was arrested for Theft under $5,000 at a grocer in the 400 block of River Avenue. Released on Undertaking.

  • On August 10, a 53-year-old male was arrested for Theft under $5,000 at a grocer on Bison Drive. Released on Undertaking.
  • Members of VCRT Property Crime.

  • On August 10, a 35-year-old female and a 15-year-old female were arrested for Theft Under $5,000 at a grocer in the 1300 block of Sargent Avenue. Released on Undertakings.
  • Special Duty officers and members of VCRT Property Crime were on scene.

  • On August 10, a 50-year-old male was arrested for Theft Under $5,000 and outstanding warrants (Allegation of Non-compliance x 2) at a grocer in the 600 block of Sargent. He was detained in custody.
  • Members of VCRT Property Crime.

  • On August 10, a 29-year-old male was arrested for Theft under $5,000 at a grocer in the 400 block of River Avenue. Released on Undertaking.
  • Members of VCRT Property Crime.

R24-38065

  • On August 10, a 61-year-old male was arrested for Theft under $5,000 at a grocer in the 400 block of River Avenue, but no charges were laid. Referred to Restorative Justice Program.
  • Members of VCRT Property Crime.

C24-185951

  • On August 11, a 24-year-old female was arrested for Theft Under and Public Mischief (providing false identity) at a fast food restaurant in the Osborne Village.
  • Police were called regarding an individual arguing with staff, breaching the serving counter, stealing food and money, and fleeing.
