Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) assumes duty as Deputy Minister of Defence

Major General Aruna Jayasekara (Retd) assumed duty as the Deputy Minister of Defence at his new office at the Disaster Management Centre in Colombo, today (Nov 25).

H.E. the President Anura Kumara Dissanayake graced the ceremony held this morning.

Defence Secretary Air Vice Marshal Sampath Thuyacontha (Retd) was also among those present at the occassion.

Maj. Gen. Jayasekara (Retd) was appointed as the Deputy Minister of Defence by H.E. the President on Thursday (Nov 21).

Both the Minister and the Secretary of the Ministry of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs, Chief of Defence Staff, Tri- Forces Commanders, senior Defence Ministry officials and the Director Generals of the institutions affiliated with the Disaster Management Centre also joined the occasion.
