Tiffin University to Welcome First-Year Students at Annual Convocation Ceremony

Incoming first-year students will be formally welcomed at Tiffin University's annual Convocation Saturday, August 24 beginning at 2:30 p.m. in the Heminger Center. New students, the TU Marching Band, cheerleaders and representatives from faculty and staff will parade down Miami St. before the event.

The event, simulating graduation, is open to family and friends of TU's first-year students, as well as members of the press.

Convocation offers students a chance to familiarize themselves with the upcoming chapter of their lives and connect with faculty, staff and fellow students before classes start.

"Convocation is a momentous occasion that highlights the beginning of an exciting journey for our first year students," said Dr. Peter J. Holbrook, Provost and Chief Operating Officer. "As we welcome them to our university community, I am confident that they will seize the opportunities ahead and contribute to our shared success."

"The importance of convocation cannot be understated," said Tiffin University President, Dr. Lillian Schumacher. "It is the official start of the academic year and where we come together as a community and celebrate the opportunities ahead. We are excited to welcome our new students to Tiffin University and this tradition begins their collegiate journey."
