Rawlins Library Temporary Closure

Rawlins Library Temporary Closure

Rawlins Municipal Library will close between Sept. 9 and Sept. 13 for a remodeling project.

"We're moving the children's section toward the back of the library where the large print section currently is," said Abby Edwardson, Library Director. "Then we'll move the large print section to the area where the children's section is currently located."

Edwardson said the move makes sense for both accessibility and safety reasons.

"Most of our large print patrons are elderly, some with mobility issues. There's no reason to make them walk all the way through the library to get to the books they're looking for."

Edwardson says it'll also help keep little kids safer.

"The front door will be much farther away from the new children's section which helps keep small children from running out the door and into the parking lot."

Library staff will continue to offer many services during the closure. Patrons can call the library to reserve books and stop by to pick up interlibrary loans. Additionally, all online services will continue during the closure. That includes ebook and audiobook availability through the Libby and Hoopla applications.

Rawlins Library maintains a collection of more than 125,000 books, eBooks, digital magazines and other items for research and entertainment -including free online continuing education programs.
