Seidel Launches UW President’s Distinguished Scholars

As part of the University of Wyoming's efforts to achieve its strategic plan, President Ed Seidel has launched an initiative aimed at promoting institutional excellence. The President's Distinguished Scholars Program seeks to recognize outstanding scholarship among faculty in all academic disciplines.

Deans and directors of colleges and schools are invited to apply for funding as part of recruitment or retention packages for early-career faculty members who show particular promise for excellence in scholarship and senior faculty members with demonstrated excellence. In addition to funding to support the faculty members' scholarship and research activities, awardees will carry the title of President's Distinguished Scholar for up to two years.

"I am thrilled to launch this program to recognize and encourage exceptional scholarship among our talented faculty in all disciplines," Seidel says. "As UW approaches Carnegie R1 status, it's more critical than ever that we invest in initiatives that promote institutional excellence."
